Lee BIA Builders Care’s 2nd Annual Charity Clay Shoot raises $34,000

Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), raised more than $34,000 during its second annual Charity Clay Shoot on Nov. 30 at Bermont Shooting Club in Punta Gorda. Funds raised will support Lee BIA Builders Care efforts to provide emergency construction services at no cost to needy and deserving elderly and/or disabled homeowners, and their families, who cannot obtain repairs through traditional means.

“Our second annual Charity Clay Shoot was a great success, and we’re so thankful to all that came out to support Builders Care and its efforts to make a difference in the lives of our neighbors in need,” said Becky Swift, executive director of Lee BIA Builders Care. “Funds raised during this event will play a crucial role in helping fulfill a continued need within the community as we work together to provide critical housing repairs to disadvantaged homeowners and their families.”

The tournament brought 164 participants out to contend in a 16-station course with optional Judge and Turkey Shoot Out competitions. Following the tournament, teams enjoyed a barbecue luncheon catered by Jonezes BBQ with live music performed by The Electric Mud, an awards ceremony to name the top individuals and teams, and prize drawings to win a variety of top items, including a Benelli Montefeltro shotgun.
