Lee BIA Builders Care, the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA), has announced the appointment of Becky Swift as its new executive director.
In her new position, Swift will oversee Lee BIA Builders Care’s efforts to provide emergency construction services at no cost to homeowners who are elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged and cannot complete home repairs through traditional means. As executive director, Swift will work with contractors and local businesses to secure in-kind services, monetary and material donations, and teams of skilled volunteers to complete repair projects. She will also lead Lee BIA Builders Care in hosting a number of fundraising events throughout the year, including the popular BBQ, Bands & Brew event in Fort Myers.
“Becky has been an active member of the local development and construction industry for nearly two decades, so she already knows many of our members and is quite familiar with the tremendous need for repair services in Lee County,” said Dan Beiter, president of the Lee BIA Builders Care board of directors. “We are confident that her leadership experience and passion for helping others will ensure that Lee BIA Builders Care continues to reach more elderly and disabled homeowners who are in need of assistance.”
For the past four years, Swift served as director of operations and chief operating officer for Storm Smart, a Fort Myers-based company specializing in hurricane protection products and services. Prior to that, Swift served as president of Sandbill Construction and was part of the senior management team for First Home Builders/K. Hovnanian First Homes. Swift is also a past president of the Cape Coral Construction Industry Association and former chairwoman of the Lee Building Industry Government Liaison Committee. She is also a graduate of Advanced Leadership of Cape Coral and community trustee, as well as recipient of the Deborah Jude Schivinski Memorial Award that honors outstanding women in the field of construction.
Swift, a licensed real estate sales associate and certified building contractor, has been active in numerous community and civic groups, including the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society and Habitat for Humanity.
Swift succeeds Christi Pritchett, who held the position since 2015.
