Life-Changing Ramp for Elderly and Disabled Homeowner

LeeBC

Recently, Lee BIA Builders Care provided a much-needed wheelchair ramp for an elderly and disabled couple in North Fort Myers.

Patrick, 78, and JoAnn Jeffrey, 83, are an elderly and disabled couple with limited mobility. JoAnn suffers from spinal deterioration, causing frequent instability due to loss of balance. Patrick is unable to walk on his own due to heart complications and frequent dizziness. They both were having a very hard time getting up and down the steps to their home and suffered many falls as a result. For years, Patrick and JoAnn had been confined to their home due to these conditions and were unable to leave without assistance from their daughter, who lives in Clewiston. The steps to the home also created difficulty for paramedics to safely get them in and out of the home when needed and their frequent doctor appointments grew increasingly difficult for their daughter to coordinate. It was clear the Jeffreys’ were in need of a wheelchair ramp for the health and safety of all.

After learning of their situation, Lee BIA Builders Care, community partners and a team of rockstar volunteers joined forces to provide this much-needed wheelchair ramp for these deserving homeowners.

The ramp was completed in just 3 days and all work was performed at no cost to the homeowners, thanks to the generosity and support from the community!

Special thank you to The Allegretti Foundation and Ferguson Enterprises for sponsoring this ramp with their team of rock star volunteers and thank you to our project partners for making it possible! Nilles Design Group, Inc., Westcoast Structural Concrete & Masonry, Thread Source, Inc. and Grabber Ft Myers.

The new ramp is a blessing for the Jeffreys’ and will finally allow them the freedom to safely enter and exit their home with ease. They are forever grateful for this life-changing ramp and extend their sincerest thank you to all involved in making it possible for them.
