Lee BIA Builders Care and Leadership Cape Coral help Elderly widow

Yesterday, Lee BIA Builders Care and the 2018 Cape Coral Leadership Class partnered together to help an Elderly Widow with landscaping and general repairs. The project included landscaping improvements, paint touch ups and tree trimming and pruning.

Mrs. Benavides, is an 82-year old widow who lives with her son, Martin, who moved in after the passing of Mr. Benavides to care for his mother. Mrs. Benavides is unable to work due to health issues and relies on a small amount of social security as her sole income.

When Hurricane Irma hit Southwest Florida in 2017, her 40+ year old tile roof was severely damaged. Her son Martin is a full-time college student and found part-time work after the Hurricane in hopes to save enough money to fix his mother’s roof. Fortunately, Builders Care will be providing her with a new roof before the end of the year. Stay tuned..!

Thanks to the partnership of the 2018 Cape Coral Leadership Class, Builders Care was able to take this project to the next level to really beautify the outside of her home.

Mrs. Benavides was truly humbled when she saw so many volunteers outside of her home. After raising 5 children and taking care of her husband for many years, it was truly a delight to help someone who has helped others for so long.
