A Life-Changing Ramp for Ms. Pearlie Mae

LeeBC

Last week, community partners and volunteers came together to build a wheelchair ramp for an elderly homeowner in Fort Myers.

Pearlie Mae, 84, lives in her 680 square foot home with her 2 grandchildren. Her income is extremely limited, and covers just enough for basic necessities. Elderly and frail, Pearlie Mae’s home was in desperate need of repairs that she was unable to obtain.  Ms. Pearlie Mae was brought to the attention of Lee BIA Builders Care by the City of Fort Myers when they ran short on funding to provide Ms. Pearlie Mae with a wheelchair ramp. Through a wonderful partnership with the City of Fort Myers, Lee BIA Builders Care and partners stepped in to provide Ms. Pearlie Mae with a wheelchair ramp.

In just a few days, our team of hardworking volunteers endured the heat and rain to build a wheelchair ramp for this homeowner in need. Pearlie Mae had difficulty leaving her home due to the unsafe steps leading to her home. Hard work pays off, and Pearlie Mae can now enter and exit her home safely and with ease.

The new ramp is a blessing and Pearlie Mae is forever grateful.
