Contractors spread the love with a surprise of a new roof for a Fort Myers widow in need. Mrs. Waltrip, 70, has suffered much including the loss of her husband of 29 years last February. “He was everything to me and I am having a real tough time without him,” said Waltrip. She also been taking care of family members and battling code enforcement to not impose daily fines because of the roof damage.
Today, donors and partners of Builders Care surprised Waltrip with news that her wish for a new roof will be granted just before Valentines Day. Through tears Waltrip said, “I don’t even know what to say. I never thought this would happen to me. What a wonderful Valentines Day surprise.”
Roof Smart of Southwest Florida is providing the roof at no cost to Waltrip and construction started on Feb. 13th following the announcement. Roof is scheduled to be finished Tuesday, Feb. 19th. Waltrip was identified through Builders Care, the non-profit arm of the Lee Building Industry Association.
