Top Builders Care volunteers are recognized at annual awards ceremony

Lee Builders Care

Sometimes saying thank you just isn’t enough.  Each year Builders Care celebrates all of the wonderful contributions that our gracious volunteers and contributors have given! Through selfless acts of giving, many have contributed thoughtfully to continuing the mission of Builders Care. At our annual Lee BIA Holiday Party and Builders Care Annual Awards, we honored and gave thanks to those who gallantly sacrificed their time and energy towards providing emergency construction services for the elderly, disabled, and economically disadvantaged citizens right here in Lee County. With their help and generosity, Builders Care was able to hit a milestone this year by reaching $2.7 Million in services provided since the humble beginnings in 2006 with 3 projects completed. We tipped our hats in appreciation to honor our admired recipients, and to all of our volunteers that contributed to another successful year; also, our continued thanks to all who have contributed in the past!

  • Butch Ritter, President of Lee BIA Builders Care, awarded the 2013 President’s Award
  • Glen ‘Hildy’ Hildebrand, Jodi Huntoon, and Carl Schmidt received the 2013 Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Teri Hansen and Priority Marketing received the 2013 Partner of the Year Award
  • The Aubuchon Team of Companies received the 2013 Building Partner of the Year Award
  • Stock Development received the 2013 Contributor of the Year Award

Last, but most certainly not least, was a very special award that is not an annual recognition; it must be earned through exemplary efforts. This award took on a new name to pay homage to its very first recipient, Michael English, who passed away last year. The individual that received this award embodies all that Builders Care stands for and represents continued commitment to the community, the building industry and his family friends.

We were honored to bestow the 2013 Michael English Hearts and Hammers Award, the highest level of honor, upon Mr. Jimmy Rodgers for his unprecedented acts of kindness, self-sacrifice and unwavering efforts to helping Builders Care help those in need.

All recipients honored at the night’s celebration were men and women that went over and beyond the call of service. Unselfishly and unrelentingly, all gave their time, their resources, their ideas or a combination of the three, plus much more. We are forever indebted to them and are forever appreciative of all that they have done!

The celebration was held at the annual BIA holiday party at Pelican Preserve on Dec. 5, 2013.
