CAPE CORAL, Fla. (Oct. 1, 2015) — Cape Coral couple Anthony and Sue Cianci were amazed to find that they would receive important home maintenance thanks to Lee Builders Care in partner with Cape Coral Leadership Group.
The Cianci’s met more than 40 years ago while Anthony was playing music professionally and have been together ever since. They also have a daughter who is studying to be a nurse. In 2013, Anthony, 75 years-old suffered a massive stroke that almost took his life. He was hospitalized for six weeks undergoing multiple surgeries for colon cancer and an aortic bypass forcing him to retire. Before their ailments, Anthony drove a van for 21st Century Oncology and his wife Sue, 61, was a hairdresser. Sue is now Anthony’s full-time caregiver.
While financials and care became paramount for Anthony’s recovery, home maintenance is now less of an option for the couple. The Cape Coral home is in dire need of a new roof. Evidence of water damage and leaks are active inside the home. Damaged wood, soffit, fascia, front beams, and interior drywall are in need of repair. To kick off the work, volunteers will pressure wash the exterior and give it a fresh coat of paint.
Fifteen members of the Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class painted the exterior of the home in under four hours.
“This is my third year working with the Cape Coral Leadership team and every year the class comes out ready to work hard and make difference,” said Olivia Rivera, Director of Client Services at Builders Care. “They are a very committed group of individuals and we are very fortunate for their contribution to the community.”
The Cape Coral Chamber of Commerce is a contributor to the growth and progress of the community and actively supports more than 800 member businesses in Southwest Florida. Leadership Cape Coral, is a 13-week program ran by the Cape Coral Chamber that educates the participants about the components that make up Cape Coral.
