10th Annual Bricks & Sticks Fishing Tournament Raises $12,500 for Lee BIA Builders Care

The tenth annual Bricks & Sticks Fishing Tournament hosted by the Lee Building Industry Association took place at the Tarpon Point Marina in Cape Coral on the weekend of May 12, 2017 and raised over $12,500.00 for Lee BIA Builders Care from the live auction held in conjunction with the awards dinner on Saturday evening. The donation will go toward the nonprofit’s efforts in providing emergency home repairs and construction services to those in need. The tournament saw 241 registered anglers on 70 boats competing for cash prizes.  Winners included:

  • 1st Prize $5,000 was awarded to Team Better Buildings (Eric Carstensen, Mike Carstensen, Miles Meredith, and Kristin Carstensen)
  • 2nd Prize $3,000 was awarded to Team Renegade (Dillon Massie, Brian Harris, Lisa Harris, and Keith McMenemy)
  • 3rd Prize of $2,000 was awarded to Team Wayne Wiles Floor Coverings (Brian Lynch, Mark Wiles, Jeff Palmer, Darin McMurray)

“The BIA continues to host one of the area’s most successful and fun fishing events. This event is a highlight of my year. Many thanks to all those who donated items for the live auction.” said Christi Pritchett Sarlo, executive director of Builders Care. “These fundraising events are what allow us to make a difference in people’s lives.”

About Builders Care

Builders Care is the nonprofit charitable arm of the Lee Building Industry Association (BIA). Its mission is to provide emergency home repairs and construction services to elderly, disabled and economically disadvantaged people who are unable to obtain home repairs through traditional means. To date, Lee BIA Builders Care has put more than $4 Million in construction services back into the community at no cost to homeowners in need.  Builders Care enlists the volunteer services of Lee BIA members and leverages grants and donated materials to provide construction and remodeling services to qualified homeowners throughout Lee County. Builders Care is headquartered at the Lee BIA offices at 10501 Six Mile Cypress Pkwy., Suite 118 in Fort Myers.
