Currier Roofing Partners with Lee BIA Builders Care to Help a Lehigh Acres Family

Lee Builders Care

On September 8th, Currier Roofing stepped up and helped with tile roof repairs for a very deserving Builders Care family. With the help from a grant awarded to Lee BIA Builders Care from the Harper Foundation, the Bonadies Family received greatly appreciated assistance for repairs.

Earlier this year, the Bonadies noticed a spot on their ceiling that quickly grew into a substantial hole in the middle of their master bedroom. The leak spread to an area in their closet as well. The moisture caused drywall damage and ruined furniture and flooring.  Builders Care was called for assistance due to their recent financial hardship caused by significant health issues for Mr. Bonadies.

Currier Roofing stepped up and offered to help with the emergency repairs. The work took only one day to complete and will ensure that the roof does not leak for the foreseeable future.

About the Family

Mary Ann and Nicholas Bonadies were both born in New York. In 1997, they moved to southwest Florida and purchased their dream home in Lehigh Acres. Together they raised two sons and now enjoy spending time with their grandchildren who live in Fort Myers.

In February 2015, they tragically lost their 15-year-old granddaughter who passed out during exercising and never regained conscience. This tragic loss really took a toll on Mary Ann, Nicholas and their family. Later that year, Nicholas was rushed to the emergency room after an unexpected collapse. During a medically induced coma, tests revealed that Nicholas suffered from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Cancer. Since that time, he has undergone several rounds of treatment and subsequent long stays in local hospitals with complications.

Today, Nicholas requires continuous care and lives in a medial bed in the family’s living room. Mary Ann serves as his primary caretaker and does her very best to make him comfortable. They rely on Nicholas’s social security benefits as their primary income. This barely covers the growing mountain of medical expenses, let alone other necessities or home repairs.

A huge thank you to Currier Roofing for stepping up and partnering with Lee BIA Builders Care to provide this deserving family with much needed tile roof repairs. The Bonadies family is extremely grateful for this gift.
